Conservation International
Conservation International is concerned with protecting high-biodiversity wilderness areas. For over 20 years they have operated in 45+ countries across the globe. Their mission is to help conserve the Earth's natural heritage, protect the planet's biodiversity, and demonstrate how human societies can live in harmony with nature.
Over 50 new species have been discovered on Conservation International expeditions. In 2006, they organized an environmental symposium on Madagascar, a bio-diversity hotspot. This brought together over 450 international representatives from governments, NGO's, the private sector, and various African communities. The subsequent "Madagascar Declaration" is heralded by many as a catalyst for making biodiversity conservation a critical part of development policies.
