The Audobon Society has a long-standing mission to preserve and restore natural ecosystems; with a focus on birds and other wildlife. They operate community based nature centers throught the United States; providing education and resources in pursuit of conservation interests.
Incorporated in 1905, it is one of the oldest conservation organizations in existence. Audobon acitivists played a large role in revealing the effects of DDT on bird populations; which exposed its toxicity to wildlife and led to its eventual banning.
